Laser Removal of Vascular Lesions

Our laser machine uses either long-pulsed Nd:YAG crystal alone (1064 nm) or sequential mode utilising both long-pulsed 755 & 1064 wavelengths to remove some cases of vascular lesions, such as broken capillaries, poikiloderma of civatte, rosacea, erythrosis, telangiectasias, spider veins, spider nevi, thread veins, cherry angiomas, hemangiomas, red moles, port-wine stains, & some other vascular blemish.

Results or efficacy depend on colours, diameters and depths of the vessels to be treated. Note to therapist: The clinical end point of this procedure is just disappearance of red capillary, not blanching. Blanching of treated red capillaries, or treated red capillaries turning whitish indicate overtreatment.

Recurring of the vascular lesions is highly possible especially in the legs, when comparing to face, neck, chest & décolletage. This is due to movement because we use our legs, but not the chest, to walk.

For treatment of venous malformations, blue veins, varicose veins, venulectasias, blue reticular veins,  or leg veins, search for sclerotherapy.

The key to get the best value for your money & the optimal result is to strictly follow the instructions below.

Before booking,  please contact us to discuss about your health information if you have at least one of the following health conditions:

-- People with the following health conditions must avoid this treatment: active skin disease, immunosuppression, implanted Pacemakers, lack of skin/temperature sensation, keloid scarring, hypertrophic scarring, poor peripheral perfusion, history of skin cancer, during hormonal therapy or any infectious diseases.

-- A certificate from your doctor is required before commencing this treatment when you have suffered from at least one of the following health conditions: diabetes, high blood pressure, epilepsy, moles in area to be treated, metal implants in body (eg birth control IUD, metal staples in the chest, screws, pins or plates to repair broken bones or etc.), haemophilia, pregnancy, trying to conceive, during breastfeeding, on blood thinning medications or recovering from a recent operation (of less than 6 months).

-- A certificate from your medical doctor is required before I can treat your moles or pigment-producing skin cells to prove that you have had those areas checked and they are not cancerous.

It is important that the correct diagnosis has been made by MD prior to the treatment to avoid mistreatment of skin cancers.

-- Avoid any laser treatments when your skin is still inflamed or sensitive, such as from recently physical exfoliation, chemical peeling and etc.

-- This laser cannot treat tattooed areas and permanent makeup.

-- Photosensitivity can be induced by your genetic inheritance and/or certain substances.

Increased photosensitivity to light therapies, including this procedure, can occur when taking certain substances. In the present & in the last 6 months, have you been using the following substances? (Click here to see non-exhaustive list)

The list are examples of photosensitising/photosensitive substances that can induce photosensitivity and can make your skin sensitive to light including laser light and sunlight.

These substances are some medications, herbals, supplements, vitamins and/or cosmetic products (either via ingestion, topical application, inhalation and/or injection) you are currently using and/or you have been using within the last 6 months.

Exposure to light, these medication may induce hyper-, hypo-pigmentation, dermatitis, blister or burn.

Laser can be performed when clients stay off such medication for at least its 1/2 life or longer when it is out of their body system.

Clients are advised to consult their doctors before stop their medications.

Clients are also advised to stay off such medication 7 days after each light-based therapy.

*** Please inform us of any changes of your health condition and medications when booking and before the treatment. ***

BEFORE COMING TO EACH APPOINTMENT:

- Please DO NOT take aspirin or ibuprofen (such as Advil) at least 24 hrs before and after the treatment.

- Please DO NOT use numbing cream cause it makes capillaries disappear, thus we cannot treat you because we cannot see them.

- Please DO NOT consume any coffee, caffeine or energy drinks for at least 4 hrs before the treatment. This increases your pain level.

- Please wear loose clothing for area you wish to be treated. Clothes made from natural fabric such as cotton or linen are preferred.

- Please have such skin area clean and free from moisturiser, make-up, deodorant, perfume and etc. before starting the treatment and at least 72 hrs after the treatment.

- Please do not wear any metals such as jewellery in the areas you wish to be treated.

- No sunburn, tanning or artificial tanning in the area you wish to be treated.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

- The client must wear the right eye protection throughout treatment.

- When light beam hitting your skin, you will feel like a hot rubber-band snap, without any lingering pain or heat. But the sensation will cease as soon as the laser pulses stop firing. Your skin should cool down almost immediately. If it feels extremely hot and is not cooling down, you MUST alert your therapist immediately.

- There may be some swelling (oedema) after treatment, but it will be minimal and resolves quickly.

- Some erythema (redness) may be present and could last for a day or two.

- Multiple sessions may be required, minimum 4 weeks apart between each session.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT:

- Care must be taken 72 hrs following treatment

*** LEAVE THE TREATED AREA ALONE & DO AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE AFTER THE TREATMENT. DO NOT stretch or move your skin from side to side & up or down (please do not move your skin leave it alone!) in attempt to see what has been done. ***

- For at least 72 hrs following treatment, instead of DO NOT WASH, please wash your face or other treated area SUPER gently by tapping & NOT rubbing

*** Blood is encouraged to flow back to the treated area every time it moves. Moving treated skin will greatly undermine the treatment.***

- Aviod excessive heat/sweating and anything that raises body temperature for first 72 hours after the procedure. Cold or Lukewarm shower (& Avoid HOT baths/showers)

- Do not exercise for at least 72 hrs after the treatment.

- To prevent infection, the treated area should not be exposed. No swimming, saunas, hot baths and contact sports until the treated area is healed.

- Avoid sources of friction and rubbing on treated area/site for 72 hours after the procedure. Please wear loose clothing. Do not wear tight/chafing cloths.

- Please wear sunblock at all time. But at least 72 hrs after the treatment, apply this carefully & DO NOT rub the area.

Mineral or physical sunscreens (those containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as main ingredient) are better than those containing other chemicals or organic compounds. The reason is that mineral sunscreens reflect sunlight, blocking it from absorbing into our skin, whereas other sunscreens allow light to absorb into our skin.

- About 72 hrs after the treatment you can resume your regular routine.

- Please DO NOT scratch if scabs. Let them fall naturally, interference of scabs can lead to scarring.

- Avoid sun exposure at least 4-6 weeks pre- and post- procedure.

HOW DOES IT WORK:

The chromophores, oxyhemoglobin in red blood cells & water within blood vessels, can absorb light of certain wavelengths and turn it into heat in order to destruct blood vessels, our target.

Unlike many other popular laser machines, our Duetto MT Evo can emit single mode of long-pulsed 1064 nm or sequential mode of both 755 nm & then 1064 nm to remove/reduce some cases of vascular lesions.

Client Information: Electrolysis Hair Removal

A. Electrolysis Pre-Care

  1. Avoid electrolysis treatments when your skin is still inflamed or sensitive, such as from recently exfoliation, chemical peeling and etc.

  2. You must work as close to your pain threshold as possible for the most effective treatment. Get as comfortable as possible during the session. You can also ask the electrologist to lower the setting during the session. Lower setting works just as well but it takes longer. The electrologist will not be able to remove so many hairs in the session compared with tolerating more pain, but it still achieves the same result.

  3. Find the time of day that works best for u. Early or late, awake or tired, everyone is different.

  4. Eliminate as much stress as possible on the day of the appointment.

  5. Your diet can affect your sensitivity& increase your pain sensation. Avoid stimulants like coffee, caffeine, alcohol, energy drinks, chocolate or high sugar content on the day of your appointment.

  6. Avoid extended sun exposure at least 4 weeks prior to your session to avoid dilation of the blood vessels & to minimise post-treatment hyper-pigmentation (skin darkening). No sun burn or tanning in the area u wish to b treated.

Based on my experience using nearly all brands of aloe vera gels available in Australia, https://www.aloeveraaustralia.com.au/product-category/aloe-vera-gel/ is the only one containing real genuine aloe vera!

  7. Some female clients may find that they are more sensitive during or right before their menstrual cycle and may want to avoid making appointments during that time.

  8. Drink plenty of water at least few hours before, the day of and the day after the treatment. Dehydrated follicles are more difficult to treat. Hydration will also help your skin heal more quickly.

  9. Some find a meal just before session helps reduce discomfort.

  10. It isn't necessary but if you desire and your doctor gives you the okay to take pain reliever, it is recommended 15 minutes prior to your appointment. Take the appropriate dose with food and don’t exceed the dosage instructions.

  11. Do not use any irritants or any topical products containing, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, AHA, alcohols, witch hazel, astringents, vitamin A and its derivatives, such as retinoids (for ex, over-the-counter retinol and prescribed stronger tretinoin (Retin A), Tazorac, or etc. for at least 1 week before and after electrolysis treatment.

Discontinue isotretinoin (Accutane) for at least 6 months prior to electrolysis.

  12. Wear clean & loose clothing for area u wish to be treated.

  13. Skin area u wish to b treated must be clean and free from moisturiser, make-up, deodorant, perfume and etc. before start each session and at least 48 hrs after treatment.

  14. Do not wear any metals, such as jewellery, during the Galvanic treatment.

B. Electrolysis After-Care

  1. Skin may be susceptible to irritation or infection for around 48 hours after any skin penetration procedure until the open follicles superficially seal. You can wipe the area with povidone iodine (Betadine), if needed.

  2. Following your treatment, do not touch or scratch the area treated! Microorganisms are on everything and everywhere. By touching your treated area may cause infection.

  3. You can routinely take shower and wash treated area with mild, neutral-pH anti-bacterial soap with cold or lukewarm water. No scrubbing, no exfoliation, no loofah for at least 4 weeks after the treatment.

  4. Do not wear make-up over the treated area for at least 48 hours.

If being bare skin for at least 48 hours after the procedure isn't possible, tinted mineral or physical sunscreens (especially those containing zinc oxide as main ingredient) can be used as concealers. This type of sunscreens is better than those containing other chemicals or organic compounds. The reason is that mineral sunscreens act similarly to aluminum foil reflecting sunlight, blocking it from entering into our skin, whereas other sunscreens allow light to absorb/enter/penetrate into our skin and we don't want this to happen, right? Additionally, zinc is anti-inflammatory & anti-microbial.

    Recommended products:

    CeraVe Tinted SunscreenCeraVe Non-Tinted Sunscreen

    Invisible Zinc Tinted

Sunscreen claimed to be "so safe, it's edible"

    Neutrogena

(Please note some people can develop irritation or allergy to zinc or other chemicals used in skincare products, patch test is highly recommended for first time users.)

  5. Avoid perfume or alcohol-based products. They irritate your skin & delay healing. You can apply aloe vera and/or Betadine, if needed.

  6. Apply non-alcohol-containing aloe vera gel, Sudocrem, anti-septic cream, hydrogel or silicon gel to the treated area at least 2 consecutive nights after your treatment. This will help your skin heal even faster, especially facial areas. Many physicians and dermatologists don't recommend the routine use of steroids and antibiotics.

  7. Avoid exercises & excessive sweating (also no sauna) for at least 48 hrs after treatments. Sweat can cause microorganisms to enter into the open follicles and cause infection. Exercise before your electrolysis appointment instead of afterwards.

  8. Avoid the sun for at least the next 7 days to avoid the formation of brown pigment spots. Your skin defends against UV rays by producing pigment. If your skin is injured or traumatised it can over-produce pigment in those areas. This can result in hyper-pigmentation. ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN. WEAR SUNSCREEN AT ALL TIME.

Mineral or physical sunscreens (those containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide as main ingredient) are better than those containing other chemicals or organic compounds. The reason is that mineral sunscreens reflect sunlight, blocking it from absorption into our skin, whereas other sunscreens allow light to absorb into our skin.

Sunscreens for melasma, click here! (Iron oxide can block visible light, whereas titanium dioxide and zinc oxide block UVA and UVB)

  9. Do not bath and do not swim for at least the first 48 hours following treatment to avoid exposure to chemicals, pathogens & etc.

  10. If small scabs appear, do not scratch them away. This can cause scarring. Allow them to fall off naturally. Scabbing is nature's way of healing the follicle that we have treated. Keeping the area moisturised will often curtail the formation of scabs. Try to minimise heat or friction on the treated areas.

  11. Do not wear chafing fabrics for at least 4 weeks after the treatment. Tight & chafing clothing may scratch scabs, create frictions & heat the treated skin that still inflame causing prolonged healing process. This can cause scarring.

  12. If u are prevented from coming in as soon as u would like for your next session, DO NOT TWEEZE, WAX, THREAD or any other methods that pull hair out by the root! The offending hair can be clipped off with small scissors, shaved or bleached. Shaving is ok after electrolysis treatment, but do not shave while skin still inflame.

  13. Once electrolysis treatments have begun, any other hair removal methods that disturb hair under the skin must be discontinued because these methods can stimulate your hair growth and can make your hairs become bigger & stronger and electrolysis treatments would become useless.

Please inform us of pregnancy, any changes of your health condition and medications when booking & before starting each treatment session.
